First, I’m glad to be back!

Second, I was glad to be contacted by Savannah Simulations AG company based in Switzerland in order to publish a summary of my senior project in Urban Planning. The study aimed to analyze the pedestrian movement at Tawaf area to improve the Level of Service. Different factors were investigated and the conclusion was drawn as per the results of experimental design simulation scenarios.

Please have a look at http://www.simwalk.com/applications/simwalk_casestudies.html and download the case study file included under Urban Planning for Crowd control in Mecca.

Think Globally - The Balance Between National and International Concerns

June 12th, 2007

The concern about international affairs has grown rapidly among developed nations. Partially because of their heavily involvement in domestic affairs of other nations (Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Kosovo…) or because of the growing huge impact from developing countries (China, India, Brazil…).

The Global warming phenomena, which is affecting the “Earth Planet”, is not a matter of one nation; it’s the concern of all of them.
When people suffer hunger, war, or live in poverty, they definitely would never have a chance to bother about global warming.

What the world needs now is justice. Justice is the only superpower can solve the acute problems of the world. On the other hand, superpowers today seem to be the least just countries in terms of foreign policy affairs.

What we basically need to fight is war and poverty, just before anything else including global warming. Because war and poverty are killing us faster than global warming; it is just as simple as that.

We need to start real businesses that create real jobs to fight poverty in Africa, and partially South America and Asia. Donation can never solve the problem. Yet, the solution is real and honest intentions toward humans’ life.

You have your mind; I have mine *

As we all know; we are humans. So what’s the difference? It is our minds.

Have you ever touched your head? Do it now and tell me what do you think? Is it still there? Since you can read these lines surely it is there. However, why Read the rest of this entry »

The First Event for Apple in Saudi Arabia

March 26th, 2007

Apple Poster (Arabic)

On the coming Sunday, the first of April “Fools’ Day!” an event will be held in King Abdulaziz University Campus, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I’ve just recently finished my study there and as a former student of the Industrial Engineering Department (2 months ago) I’m glade to announce that the biggest Mac lover all around myself my dear friend Milyani in coordination with the IEU (Industrial Engineering Unit) will let the students hear about Apple innovations (Mac OS X Tiger, and the future Leopard).

The time has come! Windows, with all due respect, is an operating system for typewriters. I’m very excited to watch the reaction of my friends there who have suffered a lot.

It is just the beginning! And please Apple; we are looking for a grater presence.

Albert Einstein

October 25th, 2006

I’ve chosen some of his quotations. Have a look:

  • Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish.
  • Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.
  • Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions.
  • I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
  • Imagination is more important than knowledge…
  • It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education.
  • Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.
  • Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.
  • Reading, after a certain age, diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.
  • The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible.
  • The release of atomic energy has not created a new problem. It has merely made more urgent the necessity of solving an existing one.
  • The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.
  • Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value.
  • Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.
  • It is the duty of every citizen according to his best capacities to give validity to his convictions in political affairs.
  • The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax.
  • You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war.
  • At any rate, I am convinced that He [God] does not play dice.

If we were really humans

October 1st, 2006

They say the humans are better than all other existences because they got brains.

Really! Do they?

Physically every body got one, but laterally, just a few use their own. The rest either closes their mind while uses others or never bother.

Having a mind means creation not replication. So if you really got one please use it. You can always touch your hear just to be sure that it is still there.

Think about your life. Think about what you hear and give your own judgment. Don’t ever insist and defeat others ideas unless you are fully convinced.

Think about every thing. Have ever imagined how tomorrow can be? Try to make the tomorrow of your own and never just let it go.

You are important. You have your weight in this world and believe it or not you have a great effect on the universe and people around you.

Also never forget that every one has a brain. Even the poorest and simplest man in the world got one and he/she deserve to share in this world.

Make Your Destiny

August 14th, 2006

“Most people wait for their destiny while few make their own” This was the replay of a friend of mine when we talked about planning for future.

I was telling him that I hear many “ifs” from many people I know when I ask them about their plans for tomorrow.

They say: “If I could …. Or if I had the opportunity of so and so I would do lap and lap…” and the question is: Why?

Some of them ironically say because we want to live a simple and peaceful life Read the rest of this entry »

Water and Environment

June 14th, 2006

dry

Why should we wait till troubles start happening? Why don’t we take a step further and resolve the problems before it gets worse and complicated?

Should we wait till the day where it is too difficult to find clean fresh water? Or we will wait till the day we have to wear masks to prevent our lungs?

Water issues are certainly going to be worse in near future; it is a matter of 1+1 and for sure it is going to be acute problem. In Saudi Arabia, Read the rest of this entry »

Nanotechnology, The Coming Revolution

June 2nd, 2006

nanotechnology

Have you heard of Nanotechnology?

If you have a ruler, bring it and have a look at one mm. Now imagine if you divided the space between two mm into one million parts? This is the nanotechnology scale. (One nanometer equals one thousandth of a micrometer or one millionth of a millimeter.)

Nanotechnology is the science of developing Read the rest of this entry »
